1952 Bentley with bodywork by Hooper in the Empress styleBack to list of cars

1952 Bentley with superbly stylish bodywork by Hooper in the "Empress" style made famous by Lord and Lady Docker in the early 50s. Ivory and black coach-work with grey leather interior. Seats 3/4.

This car is from 1952 and is a 'big-bore' (Four and a half litres) Mk V1 Bentley coach-built by Hooper in a style known as the 'Empress Line'. It is quite rare on a Bentley chassis but is much more common on a Daimler.  At the time Hooper and Daimler were owned by the BSA group headed by Sir Bernard Docker whose wife Nora made herself very unpopular in post-war austerity Britain by ordering exotic bodied Daimlers for her personal use with fantastic specifications like gold plated trim or real leopard skin seats. Our example has grey leather which was renewed a couple of years ago and is thus in excellent condition and the specification includes four electric windows which nowadays is common but 60 years ago was the height of luxury!

We have owned this car since 2001.
